With frequent daily flights from the rest of Greece and Europe, Corfu is only 2-3 hours away from most major European cities and there are regular ferry services to nearby Italy.
Strategically located at the north of the Ionian Sea and the entrance to the Adriatic, Corfu is the nearest Greek island to the rest of Europe. It is ideally situated for visits to mainland Epirus, with its important archaeological sites; Meteora with its unique monasteries built on rock pillars; Albania and the nearby island of Paxos.
With the recently completed Egnatia motorway there is now also easy access to Thessaloniki (Greeceās second largest city) and nearby Vergina with its world-famous archaeological site and museum.
