A truly unique opportunity to visit these clifftop monasteries in Meteora – which means ‘suspended in air’.

Setting off early from Corfu, we take the ferry boat to Igoumenitsa, relaxing on board and enjoying the sea air. On arrival our air-conditioned coach then takes us along the recently-constructed Egnatia Road – a beautiful, smooth motorway – to Kalambaka.

Your breath will be taken away by the magnificent sight of the monasteries atop the cliffs – a witness to the great faith of those who founded them over 600 years ago. They truly seem to be suspended in air! We visit the Megalo (Great) Monastery, which is the biggest and oldest  and then Rousano Monastery, named after the first hermit who probably settled on the rock . Gaze at the artistic details of some of the best examples of Greek Byzantine art and discover highly-valuable religious icons in the museum.

Return to Kalambaka to relax with a traditional Greek lunch, before setting off back to Igoumenitsa for the return ferry to Corfu.

A chance to discover the hidden villages of Corfu and enjoy the freedom and adventure of driving a 4 x 4 jeep into the island’s countryside, along winding roads and stony trails through olive groves, up the Pantokrator Mountain and along the island’s spectacular coastline.

Treat yourself to a refreshing drink when we stop at the small traditional village of Aleimatades or enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the few tavernas in the abandoned village of Old Perithia. Take in the breath-taking mountain views and enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea.

On the way there we stop first at the famous Blue Caves, where the boat stops to allow you take photos. We then visit the small island of Antipaxos, where you can go swimming at Paradise Beach before finally arriving at the charming little port of Gaios on Paxos for a wander round the narrow streets and lunch at a seaside taverna.

A pleasant boat trip from Corfu takes us to the pretty port of Agii Saranda, from where we drive on to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Butrint. Here we can see, amongst other things, the shrine of Asclepius, the large amphitheatre and the museum displaying some extraordinary archaeological finds. On our way back to the port, we will enjoy a relaxing lunch at a traditional restaurant, before making use of some free time to take a stroll around Agii Saranda.

We sail across the Ionian Sea to mainland Greece and the charming little beach at Kalamas. Some early scholars believed that the nearby River Thyamis (or Kalamas) was the origin of the name of the River Thames, after some Celtic tribes travelled from Epirus to England! While you are enjoying your swim and water sports, our friendly crew prepare a delicious BBQ lunch. Feel wonderfully pampered as you have your lunch – tasting so much better in the open air – washed down with plenty of local wine and soft drinks!

Explore the nearby Blue Lagoon with its small, secluded beach and inviting crystal-clear waters.
