Legendary Corfu Miramare Hotel reopens

It’s back! The Miramare Hotel in Corfu was built by Kaliroi Onassis – sister of the renowned Aristotelis – and her husband in the early 60s and has played a significant part in the island’s recent history with several high-level personalities spending their holidays there, including US President Jimmy Carter, Aristotelis Onassis himself and Maria Callas as well as Greek Prime Ministers and Presidents.

The reopening

The hotel opened its doors again this year as the Domes Miramare – a luxury adults-only resort. The location is as beautiful as it always was, on the beach in Moraitika village overlooking the Ionian Sea and set amongst century-old olive trees. Targeting the adults-only market, the property is an ideal retreat for couples and honeymooners as well as adult groups and families with teenage children (the minimum age is 16).

Luxurious accommodation

Described as “Opulent, sophisticated and elegant, with a unique sense of privacy and exclusivity”, the resort offers the finest holiday experience that sophisticated travellers could wish for. There are luxurious bedrooms, elegant suites, spacious residences and private villas including an exclusive waterfront area with Pavilion Suites, Pavilion Retreats and HRH single storey Villas.

Gastronomic delights

With the Miramare’s Michelin-starred chef there is a wide array of culinary delights available to guests, with an emphasis on fresh local produce – especially fish and organic ingredients. The menu aims to bring together the international and the local. There are also three bars – the Raw Bar, a sushi and cocktail bar with Asian fusion tastes; the Blue Bar, with its cool setting and the outdoor Verde Bar between the main swimming pool and the beachfront.  The resort offers wellness treatment with its spa suites and for the special few there is the Soma Spa Suite in the VVIP area.

The legend is back! From August 15th 2018 the resort will operate under the The Luxury Collection brand standards.
